A better showcase for Doe's songwriting than the first solo album, Kissingsohard isn't completely successful, since he's never found the right players to back him up. This time he pulls in real L.A. working musicians; however, no one seems to understand Doe's music like his old bandmates in X, and his strong vocals and lyrics just can't carry the record on their own. He reprises the X song "My Goodness" in a space-jam/hip-hop (!) arrangement, with Exene singing along.
