Other than the leader, the personnel is completely different, but the instrumentation is the same as Marty Grosz's Orphan Newsboys. Trumpeter Alan Elsdon, John Barnes (on clarinet, alto and baritone) and bassist Murray Wall all join the chordal acoustic guitarist/vocalist/wisecracker in a dozen spirited renditions of vintage tunes, most of which are from the 1930s. Grosz excels in this format, and the many highlights include lightly swinging versions of "All I Do Is Dream of You," "Love Is Just Around the Corner," "Sweethearts on Parade" and "The Lady Is In Love With You." This German imported CD should greatly interest trad/mainstream collectors.
