AllMusic Review by

Jive's Unreleased Masters for the Children's Health Fund, Vol. 1 is a limited-edition charity album designed to raise money for the Children's Health Fund. All of the tracks are previously unreleased cuts from Jive artists, including both urban soul artists and hip-hop. Unfortunately, almost half of these tracks are throwaway remixes, including R. Kelly's "Gotham City," B-Legit's "Ghetto Smile" and E-40's "Things'll Never Change." However, there's enough first-rate outtakes -- A Tribe Called Quest's "It's Yours," KRS-One's "Knowledge Reigns Supreme," Marc Dorsey's "Breaking it Down (All the Way)," Phife's "Just When You Thought You Were Nice" and Kaleef's "I Like the Way (The Kissing Game)," among others -- to make the record worhthwhile for urban and hip-hop collectors with a charitable heart.
