AllMusic Review by

A two-disc set of latter-day jazz aimed at the chillout crowd, Jazz Lounge includes performances from several of the most popular artists of the century -- Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Chet Baker, Stan Getz -- though not the ones their fans would choose. From Miles' 1985 cover of Michael Jackson's "Human Nature" to Getz's 1978 "Sweet Tattoo," these don't warrant the type of close attention paid to their classics of the '50s and '60s, but they work well in context. Compiler John Pocock selected a range of performances that would make for an intriguing downtempo mix instead of a mix with appeal only to jazz fans. Padded out with contemporary jazz-inclined performances from Santana, Ronny Jordan, Earl Klugh, Special EFX, Jon Lucien, and Dexter Wansel, Jazz Lounge is a repository for a few solid crossover and smooth jazz jams.
