This concert was recorded in Oakland, CA, on November 15, 1987, at Oakland Coliseum. In U2 I Trust is an average audience recording, which means you hear a lot of crowd noise (clapping and talking). At the beginning of the show a man actually can be heard saying "Down in front." The set list here is pretty standard for the Joshua Tree tour, but that is its greatest strength. Highlights include "I Will Follow," "Out of Control" -- during which Bono introduces artist René Castro, who installed a work in progress on stage (to which Bono contributes) -- and a rare full-length cover of "Stand By Me." Unfortunately, the rest of the covers are typical short snippets. Because of the average quality, In U2 I Trust is recommended only for the most obsessive collectors or those who actually attended the show. An interesting disc historically (this show happened shortly after the "Save the Yuppies" spontaneous show) but not the quality of a soundboard. Look for these shows instead: Rock's Hottest Ticket or Mountains and Deserts.
