In the Dog House illustrates that Joe Walker is a zydeco musician with true ambition and range. There are a number of rollicking zydeco cuts here, but he also injects soul into his style, plays a few striaght blues cuts and contributes a lovely, lilting waltz. It's a diverse array of sounds, but it all holds together because of his stellar musicianship. In the Dog House isn't your average party zydeco record, but it's worth the attention of any serious fan of the style who wants to hear a musician with a little imagination.
