Universal's 2014 compilation Icon 2 runs twice as long as their 2011 compilation Icon and contains several of the same songs. Nine tracks, to be precise, all of them major songs for Armstrong, including the latter-day pop crossovers "What a Wonderful World" and "Hello, Dolly!" The rest of the 22-track collection also is drawn from the latter stages of Armstrong's career, balancing versions of New Orleans standards like "West End Blues" and "Struttin' with Some Barbecue" with more pop hits. This may not be Armstrong's groundbreaking work, but it is enjoyable music and a good sampler of his most popular period.
