I GOT RHYTHM presents three discs of Django Reinhardt's finest moments. Although the recording dates range from 1934 to '46, much of this non-chronologically ordered box set is culled from the legendary gypsy guitarist's Paris sessions during his late-'30s heyday. While all of the tracks showcase Reinhardt's deft, highly influential style of six-string playing, many tunes also feature his brother Joseph on rhythm guitar, and Django's frequent foil, violinist/pianist Stephane Grappelli. Vocalists appear on a handful of tunes, but the collection's highlights are instrumentals that focus on jaunty "hot club" rhythms and the remarkable solos by Reinhardt and Grappelli. Though this 66-track, budget-priced set has plenty of competition from numerous other Reinhardt compilations on the market, its affordability, excellent sound quality, and wealth of material make it a great value.
