This is a CD reissue of Relic's 1965 vinyl album which, in turn, was based on their earlier Best of Acappella collection. Despite being -- at the time -- a groundbreaking album that was a harbinger of the local New York a cappella scene for years to come, it offers mostly white groups who chose familiar doo wop standards to copy, sometimes down to the original arrangements with little flair for originality. With trailblazing groups like the Zircons, the Savoys, the Five Fashions, and the Varsailles all plying their wares, this is simple, unaffected music made for no other reason than the sheer joy of singing the standards that these groups so obviously love.
