For this 1988 meeting (released for the first time on this 1996 CD), 84-year-old pianist Art Hodes performs a set of duets with the relatively modern trumpeter Marcus Belgrave. Belgrave (then 52) has always been a flexible soloist and he plays here very much in the swing/bop tradition on a variety of standards and the basic title cut. Hodes was still in fine form this late in his career and the trumpet/piano combination works quite well. Highlights include "Blue Monk," "Creole Love Call," "Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans," and "If I Had You."
