This particular installment in the Holiday Legends series focuses on romantic holiday fare, not so much festive classics but rather the sort of me-to-you love songs you'd play for your significant other under the mistletoe. There's no shortage of legends here, with big names like Dean Martin and Nancy Wilson leading the roster, which also features Margaret Whiting, Julie London, Charles Brown, and Al Martino, among others. Most of the songs are a bit obscure. For example, you're not going to find "Jingle Bells" or "Frosty the Snowman" here. Instead, you'll find songs like "I'd Like You for Christmas" and "Winter Romance," along with a number of other songs that employ these same sort of you-and-me-heating-up-the-fireplace motifs. One particularly noteworthy song here is the album-closer, Johnny Mercer's and Margaret Whiting's "Baby It's Cold Outside." As you might expect given the featured artists, the music here is mostly vocal pop, placing most of the emphasis on the singing. Overall, an impressive collection that should appeal to anyone with either a taste for the featured artists and their associated style of vocal pop or romantic holiday songs in general.
