A relative unknown in the ambient music genre, Larry Gaab has crafted a series of excellently dark and very well-done recordings. History All at Once is one such disc. Gaab's work is reminiscent of A Produce's work as well as the work of a couple other Hypnos Recordings artists, particularly M. Griffin and Robert Rich, whose melancholy atmospheres must have had some influence on the sound and excellent production of History All at Once. This recording also has quite a bit of an early Tangerine Dream sound to it. History All at Once has a warmth that could only be captured on tape, as opposed to the oft-used digital production capabilities that are the usual means of creation. History All at Once truly captures a unique feeling and ambience. Gaab may be an unknown, but with substantial recordings like History All at Once in his growing catalog, that won't be the case for long. Any of his three available recordings are a great place to start exploring Gaab's catalog.
