Spiritual counselor Alma Daniel, co-author of the bestselling book "Ask Your Angels," has been teaching people how to connect with their guardian angels since 1985, long before the angel craze of the '90s. On Heavenly Relationships, Daniel takes the listener on an eyes-closed visualization to connect with and accept support from the angelic realms. The listener is often advised to use the breath to eliminate toxins or to "breathe in the light, breathe the love." Daniel uses mini-lectures and suggestions in the second person -- "you" commands -- rather than "I" affirmations. The six meditations can be used individually. The separate visualizations include "Heavenly Relationship with" yourself, your body (there are separate angels, says Daniel, called elementals for different parts of the body), and your beloved; commitment; communication; and sharing and space.
Daniel has a strong and expressive voice, perhaps a little too echoed, and the synth orchestral background music by Gerald Jay Markoe (no stranger to angel music) is beautiful and very fitting to the rhythms and flow of the meditations. His "breathing" sound effects are very effective. The quality is high enough to encourage repeated use -- important in a self-help tool such as this. Daniel and Markoe also collaborated on Angelic Meditations (1993).
