Recorded live at Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco on January 14, 1978, this bootleg contains the Sex Pistols' last performance before their breakup. After this show, John Lydon and Sid Vicious never performed together again -- and not until Lydon, Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock got together for a reunion tour in 1996 would there be another Pistols concert. Though its sound quality isn't fantastic -- not bad, but not great either -- Gun Control has no problem illustrating the band's vitality. Even if the sound quality had been worse, Gun Control would had been a hot item among collectors because of its historic value. Indeed, no diehard Pistols fan could resist hearing Lydon and Vicious performing "God Save the Queen," "Anarchy in the U.K.," "Liar," "Pretty Vacant" and "Problems" together for the last time. So when copies of this LP turned up at vinyl swap meets in the late 1970s, they went quickly.
