Just when it's believed that the Hillside Stranglers finally called it a day, they manage to surprise everyone by releasing another EP of bleak but noisy punk. As heard on Greetings From Detroit, the energy and angst are still there with the gruff, snotty vocals, three-chord riffs, and grim lyrical content of "Dead Junkie." This same formula is additionally captured on their Sonics cover of "Strychnine," to which the Stranglers turn a romping party tune into a harshly sped-up number that reminds everyone that drugs are bad for you.
