It has been four long years since Synchestra's Ed Van Fleet released Migration, his first solo effort; but Grand Eagle is well worth the wait. Drawing on classical, Native American, jazz and space music influences, Van Fleet has crafted a work of supreme beauty and magnificence. Using synthesizers, samplers, occasional guitar and both electric and acoustic percussion, he weaves melody and texture to create musical vistas ranging from the Northwest coast to Santa Fe, from gently flowing streams to the heart of a thunderstorm. At times delicate and haunting, at times majestic and filled with power, Grand Eagle is a sensitive and soaring ode to the pristine beauty of the wild.
