The fifth installment of the Motown Legends series pretty much follows the pattern of the others. Save for the leadoff track, Mary Wells' "Two Lovers" (her second-biggest hit behind "My Guy"), most of these songs are generation-defining anthems. Of course, yet again the Supremes dominate the compilation with three songs: "Baby Love," "Back in My Arms Again," and "You Can't Hurry Love." But two inclusions from the Temptations and the classic duet between Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell ("You're All I Need to Get By") help to balance out the already impressive equation. Rabid collectors will already own most of these songs elsewhere, but this budget-line disc will satisfy casual fans looking to fill holes in their collections or use this as a great starting point to explore the rich treasures of the Motown vaults.
