Going Home provides an overview of the introspective and sincere musician's 25-year career through rare archival footage, interviews, and live performances. Guests include Don Henley, Bonnie Raitt, David Crosby, Graham Nash, and Cameron Crowe. Some of the songs performed on Going Home include the touching "I'm Alive," which opens the DVD, "In the Shape of a Heart," "All Along the Watchtower," and "Take it Easy." Though various older performances are included, the core of the video is the "Going Home" concert, which is well filmed and sounds great. It ends with a live performance of "Running on Empty," whose lyrics provide a poignant closing: "looking back on the years gone by/so many, so few." Jackson Browne fans will enjoy this for its documentary look at the quintessential sensitive Californian singer/songwriter and underappreciated artist, and they will watch (or listen) to it multiple times for its exclusive and top-notch music.
