The music on this LP is the earliest example of cornetist Jimmy McPartland and his wife pianist Marian McPartland playing together. The most notable among the other names to be found in these three combos are clarinetist Gene Sedric and trombonist Vic Dickenson. The music is essentially Dixieland (with tunes such as "Come Back, Sweet Papa," "Royal Garden Blues" and "I've Found a New Baby") but there are also versions of Bix Beiderbecke's "In a Mist" and "How High the Moon." Even at this early stage, Marian McPartland's playing is more modern than the rest of the group but she fits in well. This hard-to-find LP from Marian's Halcyon label is worth searching for by Dixieland collectors.
