A dozen of the George Shearing Quintet's recordings from the 1949-53 period (when the pianist was with the MGM label) were reissued on this late-'50s LP. Although all of the songs were originally debuted in Hollywood films, they were actually recorded by Shearing at a variety of sessions over a three-year period. Unfortunately the personnel is not given on the otherwise attractive album and even Teddi King's vocal on "It's Easy to Remember" goes uncredited. However the music is excellent with the many highlights including "I'll Remember April," "Pick Yourself Up," "They All Laughed" and "Love Is Just Around the Corner." A good sampling of music that deserves to be reissued complete and in chronological order on CD.
