Recorded in May 1991, Vishwa Mohan Bhatt's Gathering Rain Clouds, like Water Lily's Saradamani, is a purely classical work consisting of "Miya ki Malhar" and "Gavati," each clocking in at around 26 minutes. The first of those two ragas is associated with the rainy season -- a time of celebration and joyfulness since the rain clouds signal the end of drought and hence the revitalization and rebirth of the parched soil. Sukhvinder Singh Namdhari accompanies on tabla. Excellent recording. Excellent performance.
