Buffalo, NY, pastor Rosetta Swain offers a straightforward set of gospel on From Me to You. While she has a strong voice, there are no surprises here, just competently relayed music in the form, about half the material being taken from public dominion/traditional sources. The backing musicians on guitar, bass, keyboards, and drums (as well as some drum programming) give the music a full-band sound in line with mainstream urban contemporary R&B. The one surprise is "Jesus" -- not a song title that's a surprise in this lyrical context, of course, but it's done to the tune of Bobby Hebb's huge 1966 hit "Sunny," with new lyrics by Swain.
