Improviser Alan Licht had approached guitar experimentation from multiple angles over his extensive career, collaborating ceaselessly with figures as far-reaching as post-no wave freakout artists the Blue Humans and sitting in with the unclassifiable Jandek on certain dates. Four Years Older finds Licht in a mode of aural obliteration, zooming from demolished distorted tones into more pensive segments over the course of two lengthy pieces. Most impressively, the massive sounds achieved here were recorded in single takes with no overdubs.
