French dance act Pills know how to find the common thread between punk rock, dub-reggae, and techno. Decidedly more raw and noisy than the pristine, disco-inspired funk of fellow Frenchmen like Daft Punk and Cassius, Pills truly embody the spirit of the underground rave scene. Although this album takes its time to get rocking (following the slow-burning ambience of "Time + Humm"), it rewards those who stick with it. The irresistibly sensuous "Tale #4" is pure minimalist, hard-driving techno, and "Autobahn Cosmos" is worthy of the Chemical Brothers. Released as part of a four-CD box set in 1998.
