Also produced by Gandalf, Mako offers still more gems from the imported Seagull label, in the form of synthesized symphonic tone poems. Each track explores some facet of undersea life, with the first two pieces, "Searching for Life" and "Rhythmical Tentacles," both over nine minutes. Ranging from soothing space music to mildly rhythmic melodic themes, Forms of Life floats along, mixing subtle voice effects, underwater sounds and a broad variety of acoustic and electronic percussion, drum computers, sequencers and synthesizers into its blend of styles.
