AllMusic Review by

April Aloisio's third recording for the Southport label finds the singer covering three different areas of music: Brazilian (which is really her specialty), bop, and, surprisingly, fairly free-form jazz. The latter is heard on the brief but three-part "Sparrow Suite" (which also features Joanie Pallatto on vocals) and the closing "Light Fear." Bebop is featured on "In Walked Bud," "Mr. P.C.," "Yardbird Suite" and "Footprints," while most of the other selections (including "Desafinado," "Last Tango In Paris" and "Besame Mucho") are more in the Brazilian vein. Aloisio, who has a strong yet sweet voice, is joined on various tracks by such notable musicians as Howard Levy on piano and harmonica, bassist Eldee Young, veteran tenorman Von Freeman, John Devlin on accordion, and violinist Johnny Frigo, among others. A rather intriguing and continually interesting release.
