Flashbacks: En Tu Idioma remakes '80s hit singles with vocals en español and a '90s dance-pop sound. Sometimes the combination works, particularly on "Triangulo De Amor," a re-imagining of New Order's "Bizarre Love Triangle," and "Ya No Puedo Seguir Nas," a cover of Depeche Mode's "Just Can't Get Enough," but just as often the results sound forced, as on "Tentacion," aka "Tainted Love." To the producers' credit, they didn't just ape the sound of the original singles and stick Spanish vocals on them. Unfortunately, though they sound different, the new versions aren't that distinctive. Still, Flashbacks: En Tu Idioma might strike a chord with die-hard fans of '80s music looking for a twist on their time-tested favorites.
