With the involvement of Sugar producer Lou Giordano and ex-Youth of Today/Gorilla Biscuits drummer Sammy Siegler, one might assume that FASO LATIDO is a raging slice of vintage hardcore or alternative rock. While the influences of these two genres abound in A Static Lullaby's style, this disc is much more closely allied with the post-hardcore/emo sound, mixing metallic guitar riffs with alternately crooned and screamed vocals. "Radio Flyer's Last Journey" is sprinkled with chugging, Pantera-style six-string licks and death-metal howls, while "Half Man, Half Shark; Equals One Complete Gentleman" draws influence from UNFORGETTABLE FIRE-era U2, complete with a driving bass line and delay-pedal-infused guitar drama. Lyrically, the California band breaks ranks with the usual emo notebook romance and takes a more socially aware stance, skewering everything from youthful complacency to environmental pollution.
