AllMusic Review by

Although Leyode is a duo consisting of instrumentalist Yusuke Hama and vocalist Laurel Wells (originally of Atlanta and Athens, GA, lately of New York City), it is not to be confused with such electro-pop acts as Yaz or Everything But the Girl, in the sense that those groups harked to more of a pop sound, with conventional song structures and lead vocals. Leyode is more of an ambient effort, with Hama's music providing soundscapes and Wells being just another of the instruments, her often wordless voice filtered, compressed, double-tracked, and otherwise altered to suit the moods of these moody, rhythmic pieces. Essentially, this is instrumental electronic music, the vocalist notwithstanding. Hama comes up with some interesting textures, but it's not hard to believe that he developed these tracks while watching French New Wave films, since this often sounds like exotic soundtrack music. [Fascinating Tininess was also released with a bonus track.]
