This gets its stars for kitsch value alone. Here is a two-CD set of Madonna tunes recorded by a host of anonymous studio whiz kids in the U.K., and then remixed and remastered for the Euro-disco market! Whoa. 808s, 909s, ARPs, and more, collide on 14 selections for maximum dance effect. If the 12"s were played loudly enough you might not be able to distinguish the cheesy, weak vocals over the amped-up beats. Here, elements of house, trance, disco proper, and electronica turn each other inside out in this series of Madonna classics: "Like a Prayer," "Holiday," "Justify My Love," "La Isla Bonita," "Express Yourself," "Don't Cry for Me Argentina," and more, along with a hilarious rendition of Madonna's redone Don McLean tune, "American Pie." There's a "bonus" disc included that's more of the same, but it's a mix with the same tracks in different order; segued together with a more evident dubbed effect and extended rhythmic treatments. This may be funny, and it may even be entertaining for half an hour, but the only thing this disc seems to accomplish is to make the listener appreciate Madonna's own remixes and singles even more.
