Exitante Ritmo provides a variety of rhythms and styles, from dengue (sounding much like pachanga) to la bomba. There are the usual vocal ballads as well as instrumentals, such as the vibes number "Blue Pearl." "Dengue Para Bailar" and "Mi Bomba Sono" obviously are crowd-raisers, but on record they serve only to whet the appetite for a live performance. Indeed, the whole erratic album seems as if Tito Puente is sending back reports from the concert circuit. Perhaps it should have been recorded live.
