Although the title Even Born Again might suggest a Christian artist, Sarah Jaffe turns out to be a grainy-voiced folk singer/songwriter, employing spare instrumentation (sometimes just her simply picked guitar) to sing thoughtful, understated lyrics. The production on this EP is deliberately primitive, giving the lo-fi sense of a tape made without the artist's knowledge. Jaffe is reminiscent of Lucinda Williams in some ways, with a bit of Michelle Shocked thrown in.
