Switching between tenor and his usual alto, Eric Kloss teams up with trumpeter Marvin "Hannibal" Peterson and a rhythm section (keyboardist Mickey Tucker, bassist Buster Williams, drummer Ron Krasinski and, on one song, percussionist Sonny Morgan) during versions of three of his originals and one by Barry Miles. "Love Will Take You There" and "Essence" are both over 15 minutes long. The music is very much of the period, advanced post-bop playing with the dual influences of free jazz and early Miles Davis fusion. A fine set that, along with most of Kloss' many Muse releases, is long overdue to be reissued on CD.
