AllMusic Review by

As the band's name suggests, Elexotica's sound mixes lounge and electronica. On their album Hot Rubber Glove, the Australian group also adds some dub, ska, hip-hop, and contemporary R&B to the mix, but, unfortunately, despite the eclectic mix of influences, most of the album sounds curiously flat and empty. Tracks like "Jam Wichu" add a much-needed warmth to the genre of lounge-tinged electronica, but never quite reach a distinctive level. Elexotica does forge a unique sound on "P.I. Skank," "Can't Stop This," "Drug War Electro," and "Y," but the group tends to let tracks like these go on a bit too long without varying them. Still, Hot Rubber Glove suggests that Elexotica has the potential to create exciting, genre-bending music in the future.
