AllMusic Review by

The Hackberry Ramblers were arguably the most influential Cajun string band from Louisana, creating a raw fusion of western swing, old timey string bands, and Cajun. The Ramblers never used accordions -- they were a pure string band, creating a distinctly New Orleans brand of country music. Early Recordings, 1935-1948 collects highlights from the group's Bluebird and Deluxe material and offers a perfect distillation of why the Ramblers were important.
