AllMusic Review by

This release for Poptones' In Dub label -- a short-lived reggae subsidiary run by Poptones honcho Alan McGee's wife Kate Holmes -- finds two reggae/dub legends, Mad Professor and Lee "Scratch" Perry, lending their expertise to the London-based Mission Control, a reggae/dub group fronted by former-Techniques vocalist Xan Tyler. Mad Professor's somewhat restrained producer's touch is evident throughout, highlighted by a massive filtered bass sound, crackling snare, percolating syn-drums, and bright horns. The classic "riddim" dub tracks were provided by the legendary drum'n'bass duo Mafia & Fluxy. Tyler's perky girl group vocals seem out of place here, almost distracting at times. Highlights include "The Last Trumpet" (featuring a ranting Perry on lead vocals) and the swirling, cacophonous "Control Tower Dub," co-written by producer/mixer Mad Professor. Despite having a similar feel, "Higher Than the Sun" is not the Primal Scream track.
