Spearheaded by former Chiodos frontman Craig Owens and featuring members of Matchbook Romance, Story of the Year, Underminded, and From First to Last, post-hardcore supergroup Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows make their debut on D.R.U.G.S. With such a seasoned lineup at Owens’ disposal, it’s no surprise that the album is incredibly polished, with production that blurs the line between heavy-hitting rock and slick pop. With electronic excursions, dubstep-influenced breaks, and studio wizardry around every corner, the only problem with the album is that it feels like the bandmembers aren't always allowed to strut their stuff, with production tricks popping up so often that the whole thing ends up feeling antiseptic despite the driving guitars and Owens' anguished screams. Fans of Owens, and really any of the bands involved, will probably find something to like here.
