Drew's at it again. This time around, the famous party planner and his Hit Crew house band tackle 16 tunes on a patriotic theme. Beginning with a particularly bombastic version of the "The Star Spangled Banner," the album delivers more songbook standards ("I Love a Parade," "This Land Is Your Land") as well as populist classic rock faves like "Sweet Home Alabama" and "We're an American Band." There are also a few ringers, such as the hokiest version of Eddy Grant's "Electric Avenue" this side of your local karaoke bar. As remakes go, Drew and his crew do a pretty decent job. But since all of these songs are readily and reasonably available in their original form, 4th of July Party Music's value is negligible. In its favor, the album does include a set of printable dessert recipes.
