Dreamchasing, released on Mute's Future Groove sublabel, follows several singles from the Netherlands' Jamez that were scattered throughout the tail-end of the late '90s and the early 2000s. The respected producer has worked under several aliases and, under the name Jamez, has also remixed the likes of Paperclip People and X-Press 2. Though Dreamchasing could easily have been a quick cash-in on glories past, the album offers a set of new tracks which touch upon everything that has brought Jamez to this point in his career, without relying too much on his old ideas. At his best -- as heard on the dynamic "Thanx," and the vocal track "Energy of Life," Jamez subverts the qualities that incite the gag reflex in discerning dance music fans who detest all things trance.
