AllMusic Review by

Dizzy Gillespie and his quintet of 1953 were caught live and in spirited form for this concert. Baritonist Bill Graham and pianist Wade Legge were in key supporting roles but Gillespie completely dominates this set, really ripping into an uptempo "The Champ," playing brilliantly on "My Man" and "Good Bait" and sharing a variety of humorous vocals with Joe Carroll; these early versions of "School Days" and "Swing Low, Sweet Cadillac" are near-classics. This very enjoyable LP deserves to be reissued on CD.
