AllMusic Review by

Despite the profusion of spinoff bands and side projects around Japanese neo-psych communards Acid Mothers Temple, the group has maintained a remarkably focused vision throughout their over-a-decade-long existence, steadfastly adhering to leader Makoto Kawabata’s hippie-collectivist values. DARK SIDE OF THE BLACK MOON, true to its Floydian title reference, mixes proggy cosmic rock with AMT’s signature blues-based riffing and ethno-acid-folk, shifting from ear-splitting noise explorations to gentle acoustic harmonies on five extended-length psychedelic burners.
