Unlike some volumes in the MCA Special Products series, Country Classics, Vol. 10 (1987) covers a short, specific span of time, which it means it's a lot more consistent than some of its cousins. That doesn't mean it's a perfect album, since there are a couple of weak cuts here. Nevertheless, that sort of weakness should be expected from any budget-line collection, and there are more than enough strong songs -- George Strait's "All My Ex's Live in Texas," Reba McEntire's "One Promise Too Late," the Oak Ridge Boys' "This Crazy Love," Glen Campbell's "The Hand That Rocks the Cradle," Waylon Jennings' "Fallin' Out," Steve Wariner's "The Weekend," Steve Earle's "Nowhere Road" and Nanci Griffith's "Cold Hearts/Closed Minds" -- to make it worth its budget price. They also make the inclusion of Ray Stevens' "Would Jesus Wear a Rolex" somewhat forgivable.
