Count on Me was the follow-up to the chart-topping hit Exhale (Shoop Shoop) from the Waiting to Exhale soundtrack and, like its predecessor, was issued as a five-track maxi-single. The Count on Me single was a collection of Whitney Houston rarities, and again proved to be an enticing package for fans of the singer. The song "Count on Me" is, like "Exhale," one of the singer's most understated hits, and sounds almost like a lullaby. It reached the Top Ten, but was not included on her Greatest Hits compilation released years later. The maxi-single also includes "One Moment in Time," a grand and majestic Top Five hit from the 1988 Summer Olympics (and later included as a bonus track on her hits collection), featuring some of Houston's most explosive and impressive vocals to date. Also included is "I Know Him So Well," a ballad duet with the singer's mother, Cissy Houston, which originally appeared on Whitney's second album, Whitney. That is followed by an up-tempo, gospel-infused song, "Hold Up the Light," a duet with BeBe & CeCe Winans from their 1988 album, Heaven. Rounding out the single is the full-length version of "Jesus Loves Me" from the soundtrack to The Bodyguard. So, like the preceding Exhale (Shoop Shoop), this carefully packaged maxi-single is an assortment of Whitney Houston rarities, albeit with a decidedly more gospel flavor.
