Veteran reed player Eddie Marshall made his debut as a leader on this CD in 1996. Marshall switches between six reeds and sounds at his most individual and fluent on flute. Richie Zellon is the co-star, not just as a guitar soloist but in putting together much of the material (six of the 13 selections are his) and filling the album with different types of South American and Latin rhythms. The music ranges from light Afro-Cuban jazz to melodic Latin dance music and a rhythmic adaptations of Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring." Overall, this set makes for a pleasant if not overly memorable listen.
