AllMusic Review by

The fourth and final two-LP series in this superior RCA reissue series, this two-fer features pianist/composer Jelly Roll Morton's final recordings from 1930 (including several numbers behind the laughing clarinet of Wilton Crawley) and his 1939 "comeback" performances with an all-star group including Sidney Bechet on soprano, clarinetist Albert Nicholas and trumpeter Sidney DeParis. This series concludes with Morton's last recorded performances, "Winin' Boy Blues" and "King Porter Stomp," which were taken from a 1940 radio show. This very well-recorded series of Jelly Roll Morton's finest band recordings has mostly been reissued (except for his sideman appearances) on a five-CD set.
