AllMusic Review by

True to the band's name, this independently released disc reflects the relentless drive and high-fueled energy that defines Twin Cam. Complete with speed guitar, propulsive drumming, and rousing singalong lyrics, the songs on Columbus Day create a steady stream of contagious alt-rock imbued with pop-based hooks and licks. "Pole Position," "Wave It," and "Jocko Flocko" are examples of how Twin Cam consistently rev up the engine and simply let it rip. Relentless beats, supplied by drummer and lead singer Mike Sammons, display a knack for building upon the perfect pop tune and turning it into a frenetic anthem. This skill is demonstrated repeatedly on this debut as evidenced on the bass-heavy funk groove of "Waterchild," and the way "Rocks on My Head" starts off with a tight, smoky guitar riff that gradually opens up into an airy and spirited melody. Columbus Day contains all original music and is a genuine breath of fresh air from the Midwest.
