Unlike its peculiar companion piece THE COLLECTION II, which combines most of the band's 1973 debut with a posthumous live album, The COLLECTION is an excellent, straightforward compilation of singles and album tracks, drawing from the band's earliest work to its final non-LP singles, 1982's "The Day Before You Came" and "Under Attack." Among the high points are such classics as 1974 Eurovision Song Contest winner "Waterloo," the classic "Dancing Queen," Bjorn Ulvaeus' vocal showcase "Does Your Mother Know" and 19 other brilliant examples of ABBA's pop magic. This is one of the best of the many ABBA compilations.
