Although Ray Linn had had a diverse career with stints with a variety of modern jazz bands (Boyd Raeburn, the Sauter-Finegan Orchestra and Bill Holman), by the 1970s he was mostly playing Dixieland. This spirited direct-to-disc LP matches Linn's trumpet with Henry Cuesta (doubling on clarinet and baritone), tenor great Eddie Miller, trombonist Bob Havens, pianist Dave Frishberg, bassist Richard Maloof and drummer Jack Davenport on six veteran swing and Dixieland standards, a pair of his originals (including "Bix's Bugle") and Frishberg's "North Hollywood Rotary Parade." Although not essential, the music on this tasteful set is quite enjoyable.
