AllMusic Review by

Priority's Chart Toppers series is an excellent budget-line collection, offering a strong selection of 15 original hits, grouped by a specific theme and decade, on each disc. Chart Toppers: Dance Hits of the 70's combines disco, pop-rock, bubblegum and soul hits -- a fairly eclectic bunch, but the variety helps capture the feeling of the decade. A few of the songs haven't dated well, but for the most part, the selection of songs is terrific, albeit a little predictable. Among the highlights on the disc are Donna Summer's "Hot Stuff," Chic's "Le Freak," Shocking Blue's "Venus," Jackson 5's "I Want You Back," Walter Murphy's "Fifth of Beethoven," Issac Hayes' "Theme from Shaft," White Plains' "My Baby Loves Lovin'," Kool & the Gang's "Jungle Boogie," the Trammps' "Disco Inferno," the O'Jays' "Used to Be My Girl" and King Floyd's "Groove Me."
