Elysian Dream is a Canadian outfit, but their music is pure Celtic. Their CD does not match the energy of their live performances, and their playing is less than flawless. But Celtic Collision is an enjoyable collection of traditionals and traditional originals. The pair have the flexibility of the classic Dublin street bands: Dave Pearson plays guitar, banjo, harmonica, kick drum and hi-hat. He sings, too, although T.C. Pettit handles lead vocal chores. She also plays bass and an assortment of traditional percussive instruments. At their best, they evoke the community-centered performances of folk yesteryear. Unfortnately, they're at their best on stage, not on CD.
